Mayor BW Beasley

Welcome to Milan, Tennessee, a population of nearly 8,000 residents, located in GibsonCounty at the crossroads of US Highway 45 and US Highway 70A/79 in the central section of West Tennessee in the heart of the US Southeast Region. We are within a one day drive of 76% of the major markets and 48% of the US population.

Among the leaders in Economic Development, Milan is home to the largest industrial base of the county with over a dozen major employers. Agriculture also plays an important role in our economy with Milan hosting “Milan No-Till Field Day”-the nation’s largest field day of its kind devoted to improving the production of no-till crops and conservation-at The West Tennessee Agricultural Museum. Milan has a unique mix of retail establishments with national chains and locally owned specialty shops, one of which is the only boutique in West Tennessee specializing in homemade candies. Milan is an award recipient of the Three Star and Tennessee Downtowns programs evidencing the community’s continued success and accomplishments. Additionally, the City’s Industrial Board is one of the most aggressive in our state. The city has also created new and progressive planning, zoning, and codes that will undoubtedly further spur growth while keeping our small town southern charm.

Milan is also home to the oldest beauty college in the region and has an excellent public school system. Milan was the first community in the state to organize a private endowment to support academics which reveals the level of commitment by the citizens to a quality education. The MHS Alumni Association is one of the largest in the United States and our long standing reputation in athletics is historical. The MHS Bulldogs tout six state championship titles in football, basketball, and baseball and our Purple Pride runs deep and wide.

Our low tax rate, business friendly climate, along with first-rate medical facilities, financial institutions, churches, parks, libraries, cultural and recreational amenities, make Milan an excellent place to live, work, and play.
